2027 will be the Year of the Fire Goat, starting on the Lunar New Year of February 6th 2027.
The Year of the Goat is one of the most beloved signs in the Chinese zodiac, symbolising kindness, creativity and harmony. If you were born in a Goat year, or are simply curious about Chinese culture, you may be wondering what the Year of the Goat means, when it begins in 2027 and what it could represent for the year ahead. The Goat is the eighth animal in the Chinese zodiac (生肖 shēngxiào), a traditional system that assigns one of twelve animals to each lunar year. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, the Chinese zodiac follows the Chinese lunar calendar, meaning the Year of the Goat begins on Chinese New Year. You may also see it referred to as the Year of the Sheep or even the Year of the Ram. This is because the Chinese character 羊 (yáng) can refer to several members of the sheep and goat family, so all three translations are commonly used in English. While “Year of the Goat” is the most widely used translation today, all three names describe the same zodiac animal.
